Welcome to the ‘Norwich for Jobs’ Young Person’s page.

We are committed to helping young people find jobs, apprenticeships and opportunities to improve their employability.

Job Opportunities

So, first things first- where are all the jobs?

You can also find vacancies via our Norwich For Jobs Twitter account: @NorwichForJobs

Not after a job, but want to earn while you learn?

Apprenticeships are a great way to earn money whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. A diverse range of apprenticeships including marketing, retail, catering and business administration as well as engineering, construction and agriculture are available to anyone over the age of 16 and living in England.

To find out more about whether an apprenticeship is right for you and details of how to apply, visit National Apprenticeships Service

Also for Jobs and Apprenticeships the following website will ‘Help you Choose’

Work Experience

What if I don’t feel as though I have enough experience?

That’s ok, there are plenty of opportunities via voluntary work experience through the ‘Norwich for Jobs’ Campaign in a wide variety of sectors. If you’d like to get in touch to arrange a work experience placement, please contact your JobCentrePlus Work Coach.

Are the work experience placements compulsory?

No, not at all, they are voluntary for people who are really keen to get into a particular sector but don’t feel they have the right experience to start applying for jobs- we all know that catch 22 problem, right? How do I get a job without experience, when I can’t get experience without a job? - that’s one of the benefits of work experience, you can pick a sector you’re interested in and get some great skills under your belt.

I’m currently receiving Job Seekers’ Allowance - will taking part in a work experience placement affect this?

No, it’s perfectly ok to carry out work experience whilst claiming Job Seekers’ Allowance - there are rules and requirements though, to find out more speak to your JCP Work Coach or click here

Young Person’s Panel

As well as helping young people find jobs, apprenticeships and valuable opportunities, Norwich for Jobs Campaign also has its own Young Persons’ Panel (YPP) made up of young people aged between 18-24 from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some of us are employed full time, some part time, some of us are studying and some of us are Jobseekers.

We meet about once a month to talk about our employment experiences and to make sure the Employers Panel and the Steering Group know what issues are most important to us.

The YPP helps organise and run Norwich for Jobs events, meets employers, takes part in social media activities and blogging. Volunteering with Norwich for Jobs is a great way to improve your employability.

If you think you might like to join our Young Person’s Panel, please email us on or message us on Twitter or Facebook.
