Norwich For Jobs invites employers to take action as it launches Phase 3 of the project

The Norwich For Jobs Steering Group are excited to invite employers to our Market Place event on Wednesday 27th September from 13.00-15.00 where we will be launching Phase Three of our project.

Continuing earlier successes from Phases 1 and 2, the focus of Phase 3 is to halve unemployment and disengagement for young people across all benefits. We have a particular aim to engage every young person on Jobseekers Allowance and get them back into work.

To do this, we will need to offer more than 1,200 opportunities over the next year and we need the support from the Norwich business community to make a difference in their community. We are asking a simple question: “can you give a young person a chance for a better future?”

The Market Place event will give Norwich businesses who have never worked with us the opportunity to:
• Learn about Phase 3
• Speak to employers who have worked with us over the past four years
• Speak with partner organisations who already support Norwich for Jobs
• Hear from the young people who we have helped.

Opening Speeches by Chloe Smith MP and Julia Nix MBE will begin at 13.00 followed by networking, market stall information and photo opportunities.

Chloe Smith MP, Founder and Chair of the Norwich For Jobs Project comments: “I founded the campaign in 2013 with the aim of halving Norwich’s youth unemployment in two years. We did that, and a lot more besides including helping many disabled young people into work. So we’re going to halve youth unemployment again!

“Many people will be aware of the fantastic team that has come together over five years. It includes partners from the public, private and third sectors in a voluntary collaboration that has truly got results – results that have changed thousands of young people’s lives in our city.

“What the Norwich For Jobs Team are saying to employers is together we have already changed the lives of over 2,000 young people: “will you help us change the next one?””
